We want your project to
go as smoothly as possible. The following procedures
will help insure a pleasant experience. Of course, every
project is different, so some situations may warrant
additional procedures. We will work with you at the time
of installation, and ask for your cooperation,
suggestions and feedback as well.
•
Arrange for our access to your house (preferably a key)
before the day we begin. We use lock-boxes (like the
ones realtors use), which will allow us to come and go
as needed. Only our workers have the combination.
Otherwise, we ask that you be present at all times (we
may need to leave to pick up materials or go to lunch,
etc., and prefer not to leave you house unlocked).
•
If you are supplying any appliances, fixtures or other
materials, we’ll let you know when we’ll need them (we
need to have already been given a list of them during
the design process).
•
All cabinets need to be emptied of any contents. Also,
remove all valuables and wall hangings from the work
area and adjacent walls (i.e. pictures, etc., even those
hanging on the other side of the walls, and so on).
• Arrange to keep children and pets out of the work area
at all times.
•
We welcome you to watch as we work, but ask that you
stay out of the work area in the interest of safety and
the timely completion of your project.
I once saw a sign in a locksmith’s shop... “Keys $1...
If you watch, $2... If you help, $3.”
•
If you are sensitive to dust, fumes or noise, you may
want to visit a friend, go shopping, etc., as needed.
•
Be prepared to be without a kitchen for an extended
period of time (our typical project lasts about 6
weeks). Plan to set up a temporary “kitchenette” in a
dining room or utility room if you like, with a
microwave (hint- use the new microwave steaming bags
such as GLAD Simply Cooking™ bags to steam vegetables,
fish and other foods in your microwave), coffee pot,
toaster, etc. Stock up on paper plates & cups, and other
items to make life easier during your project.
•
Designate a door and path for our workers to use for
access to the work area.
•
Designate a restroom that would be appropriate for our
workers to use.
•
Remodeling causes dust. We will make reasonable efforts to
limit it to the work area, however, some dust will
inevitably make its way into surrounding rooms. You may
want to cover sensitive furniture with old sheets, or
take other prudent precautions. We will wipe down and
sweep the area upon completion. Let us know if you’d
like for us to arrange a cleaning service to come in
after your new kitchen is completed (you may already
have one, so we don’t include this in our budget unless
you request it).
•
Workers are authorized to do only the work specified in
our contract. Please contact Randy if you need any
additional work done, or if you want to make any
changes.
•
Upon completion, please be available to inspect the
work.
Thank you. We look forward to working with you.
